• Lost in Blue

    Lost in Blue

Solnit’s ‘A Field Guide to Getting Lost:’ links Blue with cyanotype visions of the world. I start with cyanotypes – that were random and experimental rather than explicitly designed for this purpose. I then manipulate the images using Procreate to illustrate three different extracts from Solnit’s text.

  • Life is Orange

    Life is Orange

‘Orange’ was inspired by an exhibition by Huguette Caland at Tate St Ives with her bold abstract shapes and bright colours. Her quote encapsulates the more lively and optimistic side of my somewhat bipolar psyche.

  • A to Z from Armageddon

    A to Z from Armageddon

The book is a playful exploration of different associations of letterforms (style and typographic variants) and the words they may begin (colour, media, objects and moods) as a design challenge to see how apparently random elements can be combined to create harmonies and/or tensions.

  • On the Road: Cover Design

    On the Road: Cover Design

Jacket artwork for the Beat generation classic, On the Road by Jack Kerouac. I capture my very mixed responses.  The energy – Being ‘On the Road’ – is something in my own soul. But the implicit and often explicit sexism was too close to the prejudice all around me growing up.

  • The Greed Game

    The Greed Game

A game box about oil and the Middle East based on ‘Money Rush’ by Alan Duncan 1979 and the oil game ‘Petropolis’. Starting with an altered book manipulating, collaging and painting onto the pages.

  • Anonymous: Experimental Book

    Anonymous: Experimental Book

A concertina book narrative of an ‘anonymous’ individual seeking hard to find their identity in a crowded and competitive world where advertisements are always trying to make people feel inadequate in order to buy products.
